Dear Guests,
We're getting quite a few questions about the current State of Emergency and how it affects their reservations. This is what we can share with you:

On 2 March, Vanuatu’s President – His Excellency Nikenike Vurobarovu declared a State of Emergency (SoE) following Tropical Cyclones Judy & Kevin that impacted our islands last week.
It’s important to note that That SoE does not restrict the movement of people and services and therefore, does not restrict tourism, and there is no curfew. There are no restrictions on travel, either international or domestic and businesses can operate as normal. The SoE simply directs Government Departments including the Vanuatu Police Force to prioritise response, assessment and recovery efforts.

Virgin Airlines' decision to delay its inaugural flight is a commercial decision of the airline and Port Vila International airport is operational; other airlines are operating as normal (Air Van, Fiji Airways, Aircalin)

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us. [email protected]

We look forward to welcoming you to Fatumaru Lodge 💟

Thankyou for this update. How is the drinking water supply?

Can't wait!!!

Thanks for the update, trusting that the countries recovery efforts go well. Especially those who rely on their gardens for daily living. Looking forward to coming in April

Yay 😁 see you soon.

Well here we are the end of the day after Tc Kevin and 2days post TC Judy, both category 4 cyclones that crossed Efate. The Lodge had proved herself well and we are all safe and sound, including Jen who is on the island of Epi. This is definitely not what it looked like this morning, and we did not escape completely. We lost some trees and fences, and part of the terrace ceiling on the Penthouse. Happy to say all cosmetic damage and as you can see, she's looking great! We are still mostly without power, but we have some generator power, we have wifi, hot water, communal cooking facilities and our guests are marvelous. We have welcomed new guests daily this week except for Wednesday. Yes, guests checked in yesterday And today!!
Look at the faces of Elora and Nettie, what we have done without them? They showed up this morning and have worked like superheroes. Thanks so much to Nettie, Elora, Janet and Moise for slogging away with me, in making sure the Lodge and all 20 of her guests are cared for. Well all be sleeping soundly tonight!!

It has been a very tough few weeks for Fatumaru Lodge. Our deputy manager Jen, sadly lost her father last week after a long illness. We are all sending our love to her and her family. Luckily she was able to travel to Epi to be with her family during this terrible time. We know Epi was very badly hit by TC Judy and hope she and her family are safe.
This week we will experience two cyclones in 3days (something we hope is a once in a lifetime experience). We are happy to report no damage to any buildings, but currently without power to guest rooms, in fact most of Vila is still without any power or communications, which will be remedied by Unelco and the telco providers as soon as it is safe to do so after TC Kevin has left us.Thank you to our amazing and resilient guests who are currently in house and doing well in the face of this experience. We are all safe and sound in Vila and will update again after TCKevin.
